Over the last few years I have encountered a number of interesting perspectives on how people treat websites and go about creating them. I think at the back of peoples minds are some myths that interfere with the true reality of creating fun, efficient and effective sites. So I created this article, which is my first stab at giving a name to some of these myths in the hopes of educating you, the reader, on what to avoid and embrace when creating your own web presence strategy. Please feel free to leave comments and criticisms below. I intend on developing the article further.

Dude, this is really great stuff. I build sites for clients, and indeed I have slowly found all of this to be true. Lol. Thank you for posting! If only I had come to you sooner
Another fact about sites and web marketing I know you are aware of is the effectiveness of video. Would be curious as to what your take is on that. Looking forward to more content from you.
Wow, this is really valuable information. I will definitely be referring to this when I decide to create my own website.
Really killer content, thanks for creating this!
The cover also happens to be hilarious. And I loved your sarcasm with Myth #5.
You also brought up an interesting point, and I’m with you – I’ve never seen anyone be really good at the all 4 of the core elements that make up a website. I think it’s because each one of them naturally attracts a different talent or strength, and some of them just clash depending on your personality type.
As a copywriter, it’s really creative and fun – therefore, it’s nothing but a confusing hassle and headache digging into the code and junk that makes up a website. I’d be surprised if someone truly loved both.
Thanks again.
Jeremy, totally agree with you on the effectiveness of video. Really, video converts and has its place in presenting what you do for your viewers. Thanks everyone for your comments!
Great info! Thanks for sharing it!
I like the first myth the most. I’ve dealt with many clients wanting web work done and most of them can’t get past the design. This article would be great to hand to a new client and have them read before you even start discussing what gets to be done. Let them know where you are coming from and also shed some light for them on what it actually takes to create a successful web page.
Really great information. Thanks!
